The Institute's Career Services Department offers job placement and networking services to students and alumni.
|
During our students' first week at school, they meet with a representative
of our Career Services Department. It's at this time that the department
outlines its extensive job placement and networking services for
students and alumni. Throughout their education, students benefit
from a full range of services that assist in beginning a career in
the food business: job fairs, in-house workshops and career development
seminars on such diverse topics as restaurant management, food writing
and starting a catering business. During individual advisement sessions,
our advisors offer assistance in résumé writing, interview
skills, and professional development. Part-time paid and volunteer
opportunities with chefs and other food professionals are also available
to students during their studies.
As graduation nears, our Career Services Department
works closely with students and employers to match skills, goals
and personalities. For example, some students may wish to work
in a bustling, highly-regarded restaurant, while others may prefer
an artisanal bread bakery. And because the doors of our Career
Services Department are open to all alumni regardelss of when
they've graduated, they are assured personal assistance throughout
their careers.
Additionally, through our established network of graduates, chefs and culinary
contacts throughout the country, I.C.E. has developed a comprehensive job bank,
and its listings are e-mailed to graduates weekly. The listings include everything
from entry-level to advanced positions as well as business opportunities.
